Get that Meeting – marketing yourself as a brand via Linkedin

Aimed at students, this video is clipped together from a slide deck I made for a workshop given at THE NEXT STEP SIX media conference at Solent University, January 2021. The video discusses how common marketing techniques and approaches can be used to help strategise the building of industry networks.

The video explores the concept of a marketing funnel as a means for building industry contacts and developing those all-important relationships with industry professionals. It draws on the 5 E’s of Linkedin Marketing infographic by Top Dog Social Media to provide the basis for a personal marketing strategy.

Very few jobs in the creative industries are advertised, plus asking directly for work experience is likely to receive a ‘no thank you’. So, knowing people, being on their radar, or having the sort of connection with professionals that means you the person they go to when there is an opening is a key employability skill. We will use the online collaboration tool, Miro, to come up with a plan based on participants input and the results will be shared with everyone after the session.
