About
Roy is a filmmaker, audio visual artist, arts event promoter, networker and lecturer in media production at Southampton Solent University. With over 20 years’ professional experience as an amateur and corporate filmmaker, just as many years’ experience as a VJ and audio visual artist, and over 15 years’ experience of teaching in Higher Education.
His academic area of specialisation is in media practice, media theory, communications, journalism, screen-writing, fiction production and media project management. He has published widely on and is actively researching into project-based learning and media practice education.
He is currently engaged as a Senior Lecturer & Course Leader in Media Production at Southampton Solent University. Prior to that he worked in China for three years of teaching Drama/ESL at Hebei United University for two of those, then transferring to Zhejiang University of Media and Communications to teach Communications Theory and Lifestyle Journalism. He originally travelled to China in order to pursue interests in learning Taiji/Qigong and has learnt a few words of Chinese.
